The other day at the store, I noticed that many of the games for Playstation 3 are the very same games that are made for Playstation 2. Why is that and what’s the difference? Why are these PS2 games still being made if a person already needs that game for his PS3?
THe ps3 version has way more bells and whistles is the difference and Why they produce for both -Sony doesn’t want ps2 owners to suffer from not having the ps3 yet.
Many people does not own the PS3, just about 3.6 million people have the system in thir houses. and 120.10 million with the PS2 (both World Wide). If sony wanted they would shut down PS2 Game and start with the PSP and the PS3. But right now there are about 35x PS2 owners than the PS3 owners. and So ther very few people with PS3 will feel happy while PS2 owners will feel sad. But thats not the only reason they are not closing PS2 games. PS2 has been popular for many years (just about 5 or 6 years) in the market and sony want it to be alive for a few more months, before moving to the PSP and PS3. So Sony is tring thir best to keep the PS2 alive.
Because a lot us didnt make the leap yet to buy a PS3. The PS2 is an extremely popular game system like the person above me said 120 Million units wordwide, Thats a lot of people and it equals up- the Game publisher can make the most money off the PS2 version of game because theres simply more people who own a PS2.
Remember when PS2 first came out, Sony was still releasing PS1 games along with other publishers because at that time more people still owned a PS1. It remains to be seen how long the PS2 stays alive but the current status is good- This year PS2 owners got God of War II, Rogue Galaxy and so forth. Still eventually the flow of good PS2 games will decrease once more people purchase a PS3…
