no backwards compatibility is ony ps1>>ps2 and ps2>>ps3 the PlayStation 1 is only designed to read ps1 disk’s however you can play music Cd’s on it, later models like the PS2 and PS3 have been designed to read there predecessor’s Cd’s.
no, ps1 was designed to use games writing in cd format only. ps2 games where primarily writing on dvd format disks but also reads cd format disks, it can play ps1 games but the ps2 games that are on cd’s are in a language that ps1 cannot read. ps3 is meant to read blue ray, dvd, and cd, can read ps1 and ps2 games but I dont think they even make ps3 games in cd format.
You will not find any retail store that sells ps1 games anymore, they are no longer made. But you can usualy find them at second hand stores like pawn shops, gamestop, video rental stores, and salvation army/goodwill will often have some.
I know, i’ve been wondering that also, but actually, you can play SOME playstation 2 games on the PS1, but they have to be from when the PS2 first came out, so really old games…but it won’t work for the first generation playstaion, you know, the really really old one. But ya, hope that helps a little…
