Can deleted PSP saved games be restored and how?

My son’s friend deleted his most recent saved game data on his Sony PSP. Is there any way to get it back? All of the game saves are stored on a memory card. I have recovery software that will recover pictures and stuff like that, but it will not recover data files. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
