Actually any PS2 games should work in a PS3 console, but then again if you got the new ones that are about 100 bucks cheaper, I believe they took out the play back feature.
Playstation 3 40GB version does not have the feature for one to play PS2 games. Playstation 3 80GB version does have the feature. You going to have to find one yourself for the 80GB version.
No you cant. The older model PS3 could play PS2, but the quality was kinda bad at first, so many people complained. Also the ability to play ps2 games was taken out to make the PS3 cheaper. Try buying an older model 20gig i think those played them
If you go to Eb games you can buy the 60 gegabites ps3 for $1000(I don’t think there is anymore)or the 40 gegabites for $699.(I’m 55% sure that there isn’t any more of them either)
The 20gb and 60gb versions of the PS3 are fully backward compatible with almost every single PS2 game.
The 80gb will play many PS2 games through software emulation, so you will have to have it connected to the internet to download the files needed to play them.
The 40gb will not play any PS2 games at all. The functionality was removed to make it cheaper.

PS3 is completely backwards compatible. I have no problem playing PS and PS2 games on mine, and it was like that right out of the box.

If PSX games work on PS2, I don’t see why PS2 games shouldn’t work on PS3.
