We have a Linksys router, and I have no clue how to set it up for advanced functions. The two main things I want it to do is setting it up for PC games (Preferably Halo), and printer sharing. Please help!
first, enter your router by typing 192.168.1.1 in your browser’s address bar. you can configure your router there. this by the way is a manual configuration. enable security in the wireless security tab and make sure to remember the keys or passwords you will use. let the pc’s detect the wireless signal and connect them by keying in the required passwords. these should be able to detect one another in the network once they are connected.
once connected to the network, the pc with the printer installed should be able to share the printer. just go to control panel and choose printers and faxes then choose the printer. right click on it and choose properties and enable sharing on the printer.
now the other pc’s should go to my network places and try serching for the computer with the shared printer. once you find it, set the shared printer as default and try test printing with a bank page and you’re done!
