playstation 3 uses a higher disc format which is greater than CD-R by nearly 10 x times. There is no way of copying. Even if someone tries to copy, it would take a pretty long process. Much of a hassle.
FYI: it is illegal to copy any games.
sign up for gamefly.com $9 for the first month $15 after.
you have him put a list of games he wants to play and the company will ship the game within days. he can play a title as long as he want and if he is bored, just return it in the prepaid envelope. Once they receive your game back, they send the next title on the list (if available).
to sum it up, instead of forking over $40-50 a game which can get bored in less than a month.. spend $15 and he can play at least 4 games a week (that is if he decides to rent 1 game per week. I’ve signed up before and out of $9… I rented about 5-6 games.

A CD-R holds 750mb, A blu-ray holds up to 50,000mb you do the math.
Even if you have a blu-ray burner you can’t just copy PS3 games.
