Update: Developer Harmonix and studio owner MTV have officially announced the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack for a November release in North America, followed by a European release at “most major retailers” in early December.
Due November 2, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will sell for $40, while the PlayStation 2 release will be priced at $30. The $40 Wii edition follows on November 16.
Downloadable albums for Rock Band and Rock Band 2, such as Rush’s “Moving Pictures” and Red Hot Chili Pepper’s “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, and have traditionally sold for no more than $20.
Using a “export authentication code,” PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to export the game’s 18 tracks–all culled from AC/DC’s “Live at Donnigton”–and play them in either the original Rock Band or Rock Band 2. The company noted that the proces…

Bad / good news, folks: Nintendo is / isn’t working on a pedometer peripheral that will / won’t integrate with its Wii / DS console. The company has famously stated that it doesn’t plan to release “a whole lot more” accessories for the Wii, which means we’ve got at least one or two to look forward to, and this could be one of ‘em. The images surfaced on a European trademark registry site with very little supplemental info, but we do know it’s a pedometer of sorts. If we’re lucky, this is something that’ll integrate into the existing Wii Fit setup, perhaps alongside a software update to manage more info about our unhealthiness than just how far we can jump on a pair of imaginary skis, but it’s probably just as likely that we’re looking at a Wii Fit sequel, or perhaps a DS version (a handy companion to that new DS?) designed to lure us out of the house. No telling, really, but the peripheral does appear to be wireless… and wholly evil.

After blasting the MPAA, John Moore, director of Max Payne (the upcoming game-based movie starring Mark Wahlberg) has managed to get a PG-13 rating for the film. We spoke with Moore about the controversy and the Max Payne universe.
Licensing you say? What’s that? Activision isn’t so sure it even needs to pay music labels. Guitar Hero is so good that maybe the labels should pay Activision, says Kotick.

So there’s been some pretty sweet internet speed developments here in Amsterdam the past months. I’m currently on a 24/2 cable connection, but this street is about to be hooked up to fiber.
The most common residential fiber package offered is a 20/20 line for between 30 and 40 euros a month, with 50/50 and 100/100 also available, though at a steeper price.
In response the cable company is now upgrading customers’ modems (to DOCSIS 3.0 models) if they chose, which would allow for 60 and 120Mbps downspeeds. The 60Mpbs line would cost the same as my current subscription, whereas the 120Mpbs package is supposedly going to be around 85 euros a month. Neither have symmetric upload like fiber does though. Choices, choices!

MTV will later today announce AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack, the first spin-off title for Harmonix’s Rock Band platform, according to The New York Times.
The track pack is set for release in November as a promotion of AC/DC’s upcoming album “Black Ice.” The game will contain all of the tracks from the album “AC/DC Live at Donnington” and cost just under $30, according to the official website.
The Times further reports that Wal-Mart has signed a deal with Columbia Records and MTV to sell the game exclusively in Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores, and on the Wal-Mart website. The retailer is said to be considering specialized temporary stores in Manhattan and Los Angeles, where it has no locations, to sell the game and album.

Video game-related stocks have long been seen as a safe haven for investors, but even Blizzard was feeling the crunch today after the record-breaking 777 point drop on the Dow Jones industrial average.
The tech-based NASDAQ index saw a similar slide, dropping 199 points after the US House of Representatives voted down a bill to rescue the financial sector with $700 billion of taxpayer money.
The US gaming industry saw widespread drops, with Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts both seeing major hits. A mess of ugly numbers provided by GameSpot:
The share price of Activision Blizzard (World of Warcraft, Guitar Hero World Tour), the newly minted biggest third-party publisher on the planet, slid 13.8 percent ($2.26) to end the day at $14.12. Former top dog Electronic Arts (Madden NFL 09) saw $3.63 shaved off of its stock price, ending the day down 9.16 percent at $36 even.
