Splash Damage today announces Tapir Wars: Welcome to the Jungle, semi-sequel to its 2008 game Tapir Wars–which curiously was announced exactly a year ago today.
Tapir Wars promises to “gently nudges the boundaries of vegetarian warfare with a game that looks and plays exactly the same as its predecessor.”
Welcome to the Jungle will not snuffle its way onto some platform or other this fall.
Esteemed developer Blizzard Entertainment kicked off April Fools’ Day with word that World of Warcraft may soon add a new “Pimp My Mount” customization feature.
“Tired of your mount looking like every other raptor, wolf, horse, kodo, or nightsaber out there? Then Z to the A to the zzber (whew, that’s a mouthful!) will be glad to welcome you to his shop where you can epic-ize your mount with some phat total pimpage!”

Slap my thighs and snap my suspenders, it must be April Fools’ Day again as Microsoft has announced Alpine Legend, a yodeling and alphorn rhythm game for the Xbox 360.

Alpine Legend features such classic hits as “Whose spit is in my horn?” and “More goat bell (It needs)” from alpine legends including Franz “The Manz” Lang and Johann Hornbostel. Grab the limited edition Tri-horn Pack to become “a Tri-horn blastmaster.”
Showing the reality behind yodeling’s glamourous image, Alpine Legend will confront players with tours of sleepy mountain villages, rising tempers in log cabin recording sessions, the perils of throat soother addiction and the pressures of a live yodel-off.
Bethesda is offering 50% off all Oblivion’s Xbox 360 downloadable content to celebrate the third anniversary of its first DLC release–with one notable exception.
As a delightful April Fools’ Day escapade, the infamous and much-maligned Horse Armor Pack will cost twice as much. If you hated the idea before, you’ll love it now.
The discounts will run for the next week and range from a teensy 40 Microsoft Points off the Spell Tomes pack to a giant 1200 Point saving on the Shivering Isles expansion.
You know, I was really dreading today. April Fools’ Day is traditionally a barren news day, as most companies are, for obvious reasons, afraid to make actual announcements.
And while I’m sure that I’ll see my fair share of Rick Astley today–case in point, the Postal creators at Running With Scissors–I’m starting to get into the spirit. There are some good, well-intentioned celebrations about. For example, Bethesda, really is discounting almost all of its Oblivion DLC next week, with a quite humorous twist.
By the by, I’ve been sinking much time into TrackMania DS. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it’s a nice little racer that was actually designed with handheld play in mind. Only got a few minutes? Try to beat the best time on a short track–chances are it’ll take you under a minute. I’ll write more about TrackMania DS later, but I recommend it.
