Look what we have here — a preview of 3G4, a N64
emulator developed by NWorksDev. Compatible with the iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch 3G, this bad boy appears to be rendering down the graphics (as one would expect) but all in all it seems to be running pretty smoothly. Of course, this is a work in progress: the developer (who claims to be 14 years old) says that he has to overcome duplicate button registers, delayed presses, and some crashing — and he has yet to implement the L, R, and Z keys. That said, this thing is pretty sweet! Hit up the YouTube links for info on becoming a beta tester — but not before you see the thing in action after the break.

The newer, embiggened Nintendo DSi LL (as it’s known in Tokyo Town) has been available to the kids in Japan since the beginning of the week, and Enterbrain, Inc. is reporting that Nintendo has pushed 103,524 units in its first two days. To perspectivize things, the DSi was snatched up to the tune of about 170,000 units in the same time period, while the PSPgo sold around 28,000 units. To celebrate, the kids at PC Watch have ripped one of these bad boys — and you’ll never guess what they found! (OK, maybe you will.) Not only are we still waiting for the
TV Guide Channel that Japanese Wii users have been indulging in for the better part of two years, but now
Variety is reporting that Nintendo has teamed up with a dozen corporate partners to tease us with a Japanese pay-per-view service for the console. Premiering last Saturday, Wii no Ma (Wii’s Room) currently has 120 titles, including episodes of Sesame Street and Pocket Monsters, available for prices ranging from ¥30 - ¥500 ($.35 - $5.63). According to
Variety, titles can also be viewed on your Nintendo DSi handheld, a device known for its sonority and large, appealing display. No word yet on when we can enjoy a Stateside version, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear something. In the meantime, there’s always
PlayOn.

What’s a matter, guy? Wiimote seem “old hat?” Looks like a start-up in Finland has just what you need. Containing “industry-leading” sensors for keeping track of “movement, rotation, magnetic fields and pressure,” Blobo is a squeezable game controller roughly the size and shape of a golf ball that communicates with your PC or phone via Bluetooth. Currently available in a package with “six sporty fun and fit” games, it’ll keep tabs on you as you run, jump, dribble, or karate chop your lonely nights away — in the comfort of your own living room or wood panel rec room. In addition, the company has made a commercial which will, in the words of one Engadget editor, make you “want to stab” yourself. Retails for €54.90 (around $80). Video after the break.

You know, policing can be a tiresome, thankless task — that’s why we weren’t all that surprised when Polk County’s finest were caught on camera at the scene of a Florida drug raid engaging in a reported
nine hour Wii Sports tourney. As you’ll recall, investigators raided a home back in March on the lookout for drugs and stolen items — which they found, along with weapons and that infamous Nintendo game console. Fans of police accountability will be pleased to note that when all is said and done, eleven members of the multiagency task force were eventually disciplined with a letter in their permanent records and a couple hours of re-training. According to Polk County sheriff’s Chief of Staff Gary Hester, all of those involved “were all remorseful, upset with themselves, [and] apologetic,” except one officer who finally bowled a perfect game: “It was totally worth it. The Dude abides.”

After a bit of a delay
Lucid is back on our radar — and we’re pleased to say that the company’s technology for combining multiple GPUs seems to be well on course. Indeed, a few HYDRA 200 units appear to be out and about, with preliminary tests showering love on the device. When the kids at
Hot Hardware put theirs through its paces they encountered drivers issues (not surprising for something still in development) but still reported running a mixed ATI / NVIDIA combo for “impressive scaling” most of the time, peaking at 85% in dual-GPU mode. And
PC Perspective also had positive things to say, with the HYDRA pushing performance “up by 83% — definitely a competitive solution to SLI!” But that ain’t all — for the real nitty gritty you’ll have to check out the links below.
