Newly founded developer Runic Games, one of several companies formed from the ashes of Hellgate and Mythos developer Flagship, today announced its first project: an action-MMO titled Torchlight.
Torchlight is billed as a simple, action-oriented online PC game in the style of Diablo. The basic setup: “Adventurers set out from the town of Torchlight into the nearby mountains in search of the magic ore that imbues their equipment with power, yet imperils their very existence.”

With the release of Next Level’s Punch-Out!! Wii-magining coming up in under a month, Nintendo has issued some new screenshots featuring the game’s “Head-to-Head” multiplayer mode. Apparently, Little Pete isn’t quite so little when he gets angry.
The Wii edition of Punch-Out!! hits North American stores on May 18, with both the original NES Punch-Out!! and Super NES sequel Super Punch-Out!! now available for download from the Wii’s online Shop Channel, priced respectively at $5 and $8.
A downloadable demo of Eidos Studios Hungary’s upcoming Battlestations: Pacific will hit Xbox 360 and PC next week on April 30, publisher Eidos revealed today.
Available from the Xbox Live Marketplace and Games for Windows Live Marketplace, the demo of the WWII sea and air combat game packs one single-player mission from the US campaign, along with an offline-only sampling of two multiplayer modes.
The full version of Battlestations: Pacific arrives at North American retailers on May 12, with a European and Australian release following just a few days later on May 15.
