Reinforcement ModeWhile Halo Wars developer Ensemble Studios is no more, the studio’s legacy lives on through a variety of spin-off studios.
One of those, Robot Entertainment, has been working with Microsoft to develop “additional content” for the Xbox 360 strategy game.
Now, Microsoft has revealed the first details on that additional content in the form of the “Strategic Options” downloadable add-on that’s due out in the “coming weeks.”
The as-yet-unpriced download will bring three new multiplayer modes–Keepaway, Tug of War, and Reinforcement–to the game, along with four new achievements.

Promising that Brutal Legend will “melt your face off,” developer Double Fine and publisher EA today announced a firm release date for the metal-action game.
The tale of roadie Eddie Riggs’ descent into a world “where every Heavy Metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life” hits North America in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 form on October 13, followed by a European release October 16.
“Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome!” said Double Fine president and Grim Fandango creator Tim Schafer. “And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?”
Bethesda has revealed that its third bit of Fallout 3 downloadable content for Xbox 360 and PC, “Broken Steel,” will arrive on May 5 at the usual price of 800 MS Points ($10).
That marks a slight delay from the previously stated April release.
The content was demonstrated at a press event yesterday, and Nick Breckon was on hand to provide his thoughts. Beware, his preview contains end-game spoilers for Fallout 3, but not the DLC, as “Broken Steel” picks up after Fallout 3’s original ending.

Good morning folks. Sorry to leave you with such a short post today, but I’m sure you’d rather read about all this awesome news instead of my take on Indiana’s weather.
An Iowa State University and National Institute on Media and the Family (NIMF) study has concluded that 8.5% of its 1,178 U.S. participants, aged 8 to 18, met the American Psychiatric Association (APA) criteria for gambling addiction, once again bringing the oft-debated topic of video game addiction into the national spotlight.
Participants were asked eleven questions regarding their gaming habits, including “Do you sometimes skip household chores in order to spend more time playing video games” and “Have you ever lied to family or friend about how much you play.”
Per APA stand…

Release dates? They’re okay. But release hours? Much better. Thankfully, Valve has decided to indulge us, providing more details as to when Left 4 Dead will be updated.
The free Survival Pack DLC arrives on Xbox 360 tomorrow “at roughly 2am PST,” bringing the fast-paced Survival mode to zombie-killers alongside the long-awaited addition of the Dead Air and and Death Toll campaigns to Versus.
PC owners will have to wait, but, assuming all goes to plan, not for long. According to Valve, the PC debut of the free add-on is “targeted for release later in the day.”
Wolfpack Studios’ long-running PC MMO Shadowbane will see its servers shut down on May 1, 2009–more than six years after its 2003 launch–publisher Ubisoft has revealed.
Ubisoft bought Wolfpack in 2004, with Shadowbane becoming a free-to-play MMORPG in March 2006. Wolfpack was then closed by Ubisoft in May 2006. A majority of the Wolfpack veterans moved on to Stray Bullets Entertainment, which continued to support Shadowbane alongside efforts to develop a new massively multiplayer game.
